NVQ Teaching Level 2

The Teaching or class room assistants NVQ was changed to the NVQ in supporting teaching and learning skills.

Level 2
The Level 2 qualification is ideally suited for teaching staff that undertake a wide range of activities. These staff members usually work under the instruction of a senior teacher and coordinate with other colleagues.

How will you be assessed?

You will be assessed by observation at your place of work coupled with a portfolio that provides additional evidence that you are competent at designated tasks.

How long does the Teaching NVQ take to finish?

There is no set time frame to complete the qualification and is determined by the individual’s ability attain the required evidence of competence.

What jobs can you do after you have gained your Teaching NVQ

You will be qualified to be a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant and Special Needs Assistant.

Level 2 mandatory units

• Learn how to provide additional support for learning activities
• Supporting  children’s growth and development
• Maintaining children’s safety
• Contributing to positive relationships
• Providing effective support for your colleagues

Level 2 optional units

• Supporting a number of  literacy and numeracy activities
• Supporting the use of IT for learning and teaching purposes
• Use IT to support students learning
• Observing and reporting on pupil’s performance
• Supporting children’s play and learning  
• Contributing to the support of multilingual pupils
• Supporting Children with disabilities or special needs  
• Support individuals during therapy sessions
